Here as Soliloquy, I want to set the tone through collecting vital data for the system that my client(s) are coming from. Our first session, I conduct a genogram, which is essentially a family tree that goes deeper than just genealogical relationship. We will discuss emotional/relational/behavioral dynamics at play and how the client's upbringing/culture shapes the present day. I also make sure that the first 2-3 sessions are exploratory in nature, highlighting the importance of rapport building and trust building, as the therapeutic relationship is one of the most integral aspects of our approach here at Soliloquy.
No, I work with all populations and systems ages 8 and up. My passion is couples work, both monogamous and polyamorous, and it is what I specialize in as a systemic therapist. With that, I also love working with family/sibling systems, individuals, kids/teens, and adults of all ages. My approach does vary a bit with each client I work with as I adapt to the unique needs that are present in session, but overall I remain humanistic, experiential, EFT-based, and part work based with each client. I also focus on language and strength-based progress as a means of pointing out progress and growth within the process. In terms of neurodivergence, mixed identities, PMDD/PCOS/Endo, and LGBTQIA+ identities, these areas of expertise apply to all of these populations as specific aspects that may be impacting a family, couple, and/or individual.
Before we schedule an initial appointment, I provide a time for a free 15-minute consultation to ensure that we are the best fit for your therapeutic needs. This gives both the client and myself a chance to meet and determine if we would be a good fit for your therapeutic journey. If it turns out that we are not a suitable fit, this consultation is also an opportunity for me to provide further resources as you continue your search for a therapist. After our consult, we will schedule a day/time that works for the frequency that fits your needs and begin our journey from there.
My cancellation policy is at least a 24-hour notice. If a cancellation is the day of a session, then a cancellation fee of half of the usual session fee will be charged. If the session is rescheduled for later in the same week, then no fee will be charged. If there is an emergency for a last-minute cancellation, some exceptions can be made.
At this point in the practice, I am fully virtual, aside from a weekly teen group I co-host in downtown Austin. That being said, I do plan on expanding to in-person within the Austin area as my practice continues to grow. For the foreseeable future, the virtual platform is available to all clients from Texas and Colorado and is often convenient when working with clients who travel, are long distance, or are living in different locations.
I have 5-6 slots available for sliding scale and the status of this availability is dependent upon my clientele at the time that a request/inquiry is made. That being said, I prioritize my current clients if financial needs change during our time together in sessions. My main policy is continual open communication regarding financial needs and the collaboration between myself and the client(s) on what works for their budget, frequency, and timeline that we agree to depending on the presenting case.
No, our practice is fully private pay. We do offer limited sliding scale slots when needed/available, as well as superbills if your insurance accepts them. With superbills, we will collaborate on the specific needs that your insurance is requiring regarding diagnosis, pricing, and CPT codes. I do not, however, speak directly with insurance companies, so the communication on that end will be the responsibility of the client.
